Cofounder

Catalina started her biomimicry journey as an architect and farmer. In 2011, she received her Biomimicry Specialist title from Biomimicry 3.8. In 2014, she Founded Biomímesis Caribe and earned a Master of Science in Biomimicry from Arizona State University. With more than 16 years as general manager of Natuani Ltda, a family cattle ranching and agricultural production business, and ten years in biomimicry, Catalina combines her love for nature with her experience as a designer and entrepreneur to develop strategies that inspire and empower people to transform.

Cofounder

With 15+ years in the automotive industry, Rich built expertise in designing and developing automotive chassis components. He has a Biomimicry M.S. and is a certified Biomimicry Professional (BPro). Rich is the president and owner of Nature Comes Standard LLC, which consults on biomimicry and its application to sustainable and regenerative engineering in the transportation industry.

Cofounder

Deborah Bidwell is a Senior Instructor in the College of Charleston Department of Biology and Founder of Chickadee Biomimicry, LLC. Deb is a Certified Biomimicry Professional (BPro), lifelong learner, naturalist, optimist, and explorer with Biology, Zoology, and Biomimicry degrees. She specializes in translating nature for regenerative design and has been passionately leading innovative, high-impact biology and sustainability education for over twenty years.

Research Lead

As a Biologist with a deep background in Biomimicry, Applied Biomechanics, and Biodesign research, Ana Lucia is passionate about developing interdisciplinary projects that bridge the gap between science and creative industries. She achieves better solutions by discovering and designing innovative nature-inspired technologies and systems. She promotes sustainable and regenerative design practices to enhance human and environmental well-being by sharing and co-creating with the wisdom of nature.

Research Lead

Charlie's academic foundation was inherently interdisciplinary, beginning with bachelor's studies spanning Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Biology. Ten years of professional experience observing the waste and inefficiency of the boating industry has helped spur Charlie’s desire for action toward regeneration and sustainability. This multifaceted background, combined with a deep appreciation for the natural world, laid the groundwork for a Master’s in Biomimicry, further igniting Charlie's enthusiasm for building connections between biology and industry. He works to uncover and communicate inventive, nature-inspired technologies that work as elegant and efficient solutions to complex problems.

Graphic Design Lead

Santiago is a Communication Designer. Over the last two years, his work with Biomimicry has been about proposing graphic languages that close the gap between science and design, creating visually exciting publications that can be easily understood but still as rigorous and information-filling as an academic paper. Santiago is passionate about illustration and has found it to be an experimental medium for creating new narratives whose main theme is the reconnection between nature and humans.

Flavia is a global retail futurist and innovator. She is a customer-obsessed strategic thinker, a highly sought out designer, and a consultant who creatively and effectively delivers design solutions for retail and hospitality projects. An Architect, Interior Designer, LEED AP ID+C, and a Biomimicry Professional with over 20 years of experience, Flavia is the founder of LIFE POSITIVE DESIGN LLC a creative sustainable interior design practice, leading projects with a visionary business mindset.
